Interview with Susan Pogorzelski from TwentyorSomething.com - A love for writing and animals

Career: Administrative Assistant in the President’s Office of a local university
Passions: “Anything that sparks my curiosity and interest, but most especially creative writing, books, and animals. I love to write, I love to learn, and I love to make a difference. My love for dogs has equaled my love for writing, so these are the things that fuel me, that matter most.”

Susan is such a sweet girl with a real talent for creative writing. Her writing is a breath of fresh air because I’m so used to reading “How to” tips in the blogging community.

It’s amazing how much you get to know a person when you sit down and actually have an honest conversation with them; compared to the limits of 140 characters that Twitter provides. I got to really understand where Susan’s inspiration for her writing comes from, but more importantly, she opened up to her love for dogs and what she’s doing to help the dogs in her community. She has truly inspired me to take the first steps and help the animals in my community as well.

Susan is also an amazing editor. She was actually Jonathan Mead’s editor for his eBook, so if you’re thinking about writing an eBook or need someone with talent to edit your content, go ahead and reach out to Susan.  Enjoy the vid!

Conversation Breakdown

1:03 - Can you tell us the origins of TwentyorSomething.com

Susan wanted a personal space that was an outlet to what was going on in her life.

1:37 - Why did you start TypeScript.com?

Type Script was created after Susan returned from her writing retreat to France.  She wanted a platform to showcase her short stories and creative writing.

2:22 - Why did you lose your passion for writing?

2008, was the year that Susan doesn’t like to mention.  Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong, and unfortunately her writing took a hit.

2:59 - Did you go to France to reclaim your inspiration for writing?

Yes, Susan left for France to leave everything behind and rediscover herself.

3:43 - Who is Annie and where did the idea for this fictional character come from?

Sometimes characters just get in your head and don’t shut up.  Susan wanted to inspire herself to write, so she took song titles and turned them into short stories.

5:18 - Do you ever plan on writing a novel?

Susan definitely plans on writing a fiction novel based in history

6:07 - What is the difference you want to make in this world?

Susan is a writer and an editor, so she loves to help other writers reach a certain level of success.  Susan is also passionate about dogs and volunteers at her local animal shelters.

8:01 - If you never had to work another day for money, what would you be doing?

Susan would go out to Nevada and work at the Animal Sanctuary

10:33 - What can we see in the future of your blogs?

Susan’s blogs are constantly undergoing tranformations.  She’s going to keep on writing and see where it takes her.

Great video! I would definitely want to see what she would write about history!

Thanks for the comment, Joseph! The thing I love about history, like I said in the video, is that it’s really the stories of people’s lives — the little moments that I think can really define a person. I think so often people concentrate on the huge events that mark a generation or a period in history, but I love to see how we can relate to the emotions and simple moments. We all have a family, we all love someone, miss someone, lose someone, care for someone. We all cook dinner and study and go to work…These are the ideas that I think can cross generations and eras, that can be transplanted into any time period. For me, it’s about connecting with the people, each other.

That’s kind of what fascinates me so much and what I really hope to explore. I really appreciate your interest and taking the time to comment! Thanks!

And Jun, thanks once again for the opportunity to share my thoughts and passion; it was an absolute pleasure.
