Conversation Breakdown

When did you start your blog and why?

Jun’s blog “BecomeĀ  A Young Successful Entrepreneur and Live the Startup Life,” started in March 2008. He actually got the idea to start it from his good friend, Yu-kai Chou. At first Jun thought that blogs were just online diaries, but Jun quickly caught onto it and began to embrace it.

Alot of people have been asking if you are no longer working with Viralogy. Would you like to clear the air on that topic?

Some may be confused as to Jun’s new role at Viralogy.com after reading his blog post, but to be clear Jun has taken a position at SocialMediaMarketing.com and will continue to work on Viralogy.com in different role with his main focus being as an advisor and helping out with the back-ends of the site. Jun made it clear that Viralogy.com is his “baby” but he is also dedicated right now to working at SocialMediaMarketing.com

Some people have said that if you are going to be an entrepreneur, be one 100%. Others say have a full time and do your startup on the side. What do you think is the best approach?

The most important point that Jun drives home is that it important to know one’s situation. Whether it is for financial reasons or convenience, make sure you have plans in place to accommodate what you choose and that you are able to execute them. Being able to have a system in place is important to be effective.

Twitter is all over the news. What do you think of Twitter and its future?

Jun makes some great points here. Jun loves to meet new people but he believes that companies that spam users is ineffective. Jun poses the question: “What is a small to medium non-internet based business that has effectively used Social Media for their business.” While Kogi BBQ is one of the most well-known, after that the list is short. Is it just big companies that can use Social Media? Let him know if you know any!

Favorite Viralogy Interview

Jun has done a lot of interviews here at Viralogy and has enjoyed them all, but the one person that Jun said was his favorite was interviewing Monica O’Brien of TwentySet. Monica was actually one of Jun’s first friends online and helped him get his name out there with his first guest blog post!

Fun Question: If you had to spend $300 dollars right now, and you could only buy one thing what would it be.

Chuck Norris endorses it. You’ve seen the commercials. You know you need one. The Total Gym.
