Top 10 Music Artists On Twitter

Earlier this month I wrote an article where I talked about the Top 10 NBA Players On Twitter and saw a huge response from it. Twitter has played such a huge part in the way people brand themselves online that it seems appropriate that we rank the Top 10 Music Artists on Twitter.
Factors that went into the metrics for the rankings include the number of followers, the number of updates they have, as well as how many times they were retweeted as of May 19, 2009. While many may argue that the number of followers should reflect ones ranking, that is not necessarily true. Although someone may have a large number of followers, it is the tweets of the individual that people are most interested in.
While we only featured the Top 10, more and more musicians are using Twitter to build up their fan base as well as increase the community around them. If you don’t see your favorite artist on the list, that means that they need your support! One important thing that you should look at when deciding which music artists you want to follow is the number of updates that they have. Typically, the more updates they have, the more involved they are with their fans.
So without further ado, here are the Top 10 Music Artists On Twitter:

Hammer has 100% turned his career around playing off social media tools. Just saw him in Vegas over the weekend at the No Doubt show and he had his phone out the phone time, texting and tweeting away.
I would love to see an indie list (even though that would be a pain to manage) but honestly does Diddy, John Mayer, etc need the attention whoring? Indie bands can and are using the tool to create a business for themselves of fan interaction and communication that is helping to sell out shows, sell more stuff and have a place to crash!
Definitely a great list! Thanks for all the work in putting it together guys!

Her updates are funny, real, and actually her.
Plus, I’m a big fan.
Again, good list!
