Top Ten Gen Y Marketing Blogs
At Viralogy.com, we believe in objective social media rankings. Yes, bloggers love to write and read Top Ten lists, but unless they have statistics and data to back up their claims, the lists are not useful. For example, you and I may have completely different wants or needs from a Gen Y Marketing Blog. If I were to recommend my favorite Gen Y Marketing Blogs to you, they may or may not be what you’re looking for. But what if I based my list on statistics and figures instead of my objective opinions?
Well then, we would have a list that exemplifies what Viralogy.com is creating once we launch in a couple of weeks.
The following is a list of the Best Generation Y Marketing Blogs. I scoured the internet by searching through Google, Technorati, Blog Catalog, and Brazen Careerist to find a list of 30 Gen Y Marketing Blogs and put them through a rigorous test. Each of the 30 blogs were evaluated through the following criteria: Linkbacks, Traffic, Comments, Authority, Followers, and Retweets.
If you are interested in seeing the actual concrete formulas that I developed to create this ranking, let me know in the comment section. So without further ado, here are the Top 10 Gen Y Marketing Blogs:

I’ll have to check these out!
Hope they inspire you buddy!
Badass list. I’ve been to everyone of these blogs and checked them out (quite a few times). You can learn a ton from going through each one of these blogs and just scouring posts for little nuggets of inspiration.
Kudos, Jun (and Thanks!)
Thanks Stuart. I see that your well versed in all of the top gen y marketing blogs. We’ll be coming out with more rankings every Tuesday and Thursday, so I hope to bring you some fresh information then!
Like Stuart, I’ve visited a fair number of these blogs and they’re all worthy of inclusion. Some new names to me, which I’ll need to check out…
Glad that you see some new ones. Our goal is to bring something fresh to the table and help you discover hidden gems!
@Jun - What a great list. I’m so honored to have my blog included. Both Karlyn and Jye’s blogs have somehow slipped through my peripherals so I’ll definitely be checking them out when I get off of work. I love that this is an objective approach instead of opinion-based.
What’s your argument for those who argue that Twitter shouldn’t be a part metrics defining ‘top blogs?’
Hope all is well. We need to catch up soon!
Ryan
Good question! What we eventually want to do with Viralogy rankings is take ALL of your online activities to measure your personal influence.
I included Twitter in this ranking because I don’t have access to your blog subscribers, unique visits/month, or pageviews. Later when we do incorporate these metrics, we will have an even more accurate measure.
BETA launches in 1 week!
Great list Jun as usual. This didn’t look too easy to put together and some of the names are new to me, which is awesome! As usual, humbled to be included and now I have some firepower to get me to #1!
Haha, always so ambitious! You are humbled to be on the list and fired up to beat more people!
Jun,
Thanks so much for including me on this list! There are a few sites on here it looks like I definitely need to check out, too! Also, it’s so great to see an objective approach to the subjective process of list-making! Looking forward to where you are going with this approach.
Thanks Tiff. If you’re interested, I’ll send you the Viralogy Beta when we launch it privately next week!
Great list!
One question for you Jun. According to these metrics, would you have made this list yourself?
My blog is not about marketing. I therefore do not qualify to be ranked.
I will be doing one for startup and entrepreneurship. My blog will demolish yours then!
Thanks so much for including me in the list! Really appreciate it.
You have a really good blog Jye!
Wow! Thanks so much. : )
Definitely an honor since this is my second blog - and has only been up for less than 2 months.
Awesome list of fellow bloggers.
Your video blog is really awesome Shama. Very education and has a humorous and personal touch!
Thank you so much for including me in this AWESOME list. I am friend-ing and searching out the rest!
Great list. Glad to see Shama on the list as well since I have met her in person. Keep up the good work guys. I have watched a few of the videos as well.

Haha, Shama is a cool gal indeed!
Which of the videos have you watched?
Why is Jeff Taylor’s MillenialMarketer included on this list when it hasn’t been updated since July 10th, 2008?
Even though he hasn’t updated since last year, his metrics still surpassed other blogs that I measured it up against.
Tis true though, I will definitely consider that more heavily in my algorithm next time.
Great list! I’m going to check them all out right now!
Hey Jun,
If the teacher in you has any pearls of wisdom to share, I would love to hear more about the formula you used to create your list as I’ve been wanting to do something similar in the dog space.
Thanks for the inclusion! You’re making me blush by including me in such a great list
